Hi5

Posted on 15 August 2008 by Carine Olivia

Right now we are watching the Beijing Olympics live on TV. They are showing the 10k race. What an amazing running pace they are doing! We watched the 100m heats and quarter finals earlier today. Dar was all excited. Track and Field is indeed his favourite event. As for me, apart from track, I also enjoy watching gymnastic. Beijing has definitely changed since 2000. Would really love to visit that city again especially those places that I still remember and used to hang out - Sanlitun, Dongximenwai, Wangfujin… I wanna eat their street pancakes too hehe.

Anyway… time is flying by fast. It’s already mid August. I’m flying to Perth in about a month. I’m excited but at the same time not so looking forward to because I’m not going there to enjoy myself a.k.a holidays. We will be having lab classes everyday throughout the 2 weeks there and have to finish our 3 reports. This is my busiest semester.

Nowadays you can find me at a kid’s fitness gym almost everyday for a couple of hours and dealing with very young kids most of the time (10 months to 7 yrs). The tone of voice that I have to use is totally different from my normal everyday tone or when coaching. I’m still trying to adjust to that tone haa.

It’s almost midnight here. Night!

It’s been a while

I’m quite lazy to blog these days. Classes have started and most, if not all, of my weekends are burnt… I’m coaching kids on a part time basis. It’s fun but can be tiring too. My first session was a little nerve wracking, but once I did the first one and then the second, the rest went fairly quickly. Met up with my ex colleagues some time ago for dinner and movie. If you haven’t watched Wanted yet, you have to! Mum sent some thyme and coriander seeds and I’m trying to grow them. The thyme isn’t doing too well unlike the coriander.

Today is my last day at my current company. I’ve worked here for the past three and a half years and it is indeed with mixed feelings that I am leaving. I’m gonna miss the colleagues the most. Damn yeah I will miss our outings, chit chats, drinks & gossiping sessions very much!! Below was my final farewell notes to the whole coy.

Hi all,

As you all know, today is my last day at HutCabb.

It is with mixed emotions that I send this email. It was not an easy decision to make because I truly enjoy working with all of you here at HutCabb.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to my friends and colleagues. I have learned a great deal from you and will miss your company. Thank you for all the support, insights, and help you have provided me over those past 3.5 years. I learned a great deal here!

Thanks for the memorable farewell gift album. Those pics will remind me of all the good and crazy times we’ve had during and after working hours :) Will always LOL at a few particular pics hehehe.

Will definitely see you guys again.

Sincerely,
carine

They had an early farewell dinner for me last week because this week most of them aren’t in office. We went to NYDC then chilled out at Wala Wala. I’m gonna miss you all heaps!

Wisdom teeth removal

Posted on 23 October 2007 by Carine Olivia

It’s done and right now, 4 hrs after the surgery,I am really hungry and having a mild headache. The surgery lasted less than 20 mins! First, they disinfected my front face and jaw, then they injected the anesthetic with a needle. The dentist poked my upper and lower gum a few times, the upper jaw being the last and most painful! So painful that one drop of tear came out! After that we waited for about 10 mins.

They covered my face, so I couldn’t see anything but I couldn’t escape the noisy equipment. I wish I could bring in my mp3 player. But I guess the player would have been useless cause the noise was way too loud. During the op I tried my best to stay relax and just think of something else. Of course half of the time it didn’t work :D The surgery was pretty fast … Yeah less than 20 mins to extract my 2 teeth. The dentist had to stitch the lower one. Next week I have to go back there, at the National Dental Centre, to remove the stitch.

My teeth. The lower one is in pieces. My face was a little swollen after …

Guess what I ate before the op?

Wisdom teeth

Posted on 17 October 2007 by Carine Olivia

Have you extracted your wisdom teeth? I’ll have mine removed next Tuesday! At first I chose the General Anesthesia option i.e totally unconscious during the procedure. Then I was told that GA isn’t recommended unless it’s really needed. I also freaked out after reading this website! So I immediately changed my mind and opted for local anesthesia instead! Two teeth will be removed next week and the other two some other day. Total cost for all 4 teeth is about $900+ …

* I actually went through the Poly Clinic on Tuesday morning to get a referral letter so that I can get a subsidized rate. They referred me to the National Dental Centre (NDC). I called NDC immediately and was lucky enough to get an appointment on Tuesday itself in the afternoon! The dentist at NDC checked my teeth and x-rayed them. My lower right tooth must be extracted. If they extract the lower right, they must also extract the upper right. As for the rest of my wisdom teeth, I can remove them now or later.
