Looooong Weekend!

Morning all!

It it finally Friday! I know many  are looking forward to the very long weekend! Chinese New Year falls on Sunday, on Valentine’s Day, so Monday and Tuesday are public holidays. And on Wednesday my company asked all of us to take leave. 5 days of holiday people. Besides eating at my mother in law’s on Saturday and at my sister’s on Monday (with my siblings), we have no other plans yet. We are still thinking whether to hold a small gathering at our place though it might be a little too late to invite people. We don’t do visiting. So I guess we will either go out or soak ourselves in front of the TV.

On to some eats

Yesterday, after my run, I dropped by our mini mart to get some veggies and fruits. The price of the mangoes (I think they are South African mangoes) went down from $3.80 (for 2 pieces) to $1.90 (for 2 pieces)!  They are still in good shape and not over-ripe. Not bad. I love Fuji apples. They are my favourite of all apples — always crispy and sweet.

I had a lot of frozen prawn balls (bought quite a while ago), so decided to pan fry some with shitake mushrooms and cajun spice. I wasn’t sure what they would taste like.

Surprisingly they tasted good. The prawn balls were a bit crispy and I liked it. I will make some again tonight as a snack.

I made some more apple + mango salad (without cucumber), plus stir fried cabbage and carrot.

Guess what I was munching on while cooking — Corn puffs! When I came back home, I saw a packet on the dining table. The husband brought one back. I forgot to ask him where he got it from because I’m pretty sure he didn’t buy it — he’s not so into these snacks. I think guys are not snack eaters like us, girls.

Combining everything together … I used two chapattis (one on top) as a wrap.

Later that night we had a couple of fried chicken wings and fries! *Slept too late*

Tonight’s agenda: Vacuum and mop the floor. I was too lazy to do it yesterday. The husband has already cleaned the balcony and study room and thrown hidden a lot of unwanted things. He has tons of small little plastic boxes in which he keeps small little things like razor blades, pens, contact lenses, pieces of toys etc! There are two in the living room drawer and some more in the study rooms. I think I will find more in the store room!! As long as they aren’t in sight, I won’t complain :)

We’re having a long weekend too but not as long as yours. Today was a holiday… Maha Shivratri. Oh and I’m taking Monday off too ;)

Fuji apples are the best but we don’t find ‘em everywhere in Mauritius.
