Chicken burger
I was watching Oprah the other day and she showed us some top secret recipes. One of them was the Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger. The secret ingredients are diced apples and some kind of tomato chutney which are supposed to make the burgers very moist.
Tonight I made my own burger but a chicken version. I added the diced apples (I shredded mine instead) but not the chutney. Voila, my giant chicken burger. It was so filling! And very yummy :)

I prepared everything the night before so that tonight I just needed to season and shape them. Saves time!

Shaping them

And after baking them. Grilling would look nicer eh :)

Here’s the recipe
Chicken Burger – adapted from Oprah
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced scallions
- 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
- 1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
- chopped garlic
- 2 Granny Smith apples , peeled and diced
- 1/8 cup canola oil
- Minced chicken breast — I will update the quantity used soon.
- 2 Tbsp. salt
- 1Tbsp. black pepper
- Canola oil
- 2 tsp. Tabasco sauce
- 1 lemon, juiced and grated zest
- 1/2 bunch parsley , finely chopped
Method
- Sauté the scallions, celery, carrots and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool.
- Place the minced in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into round burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours. I prepared mine the previous night.
- Season the burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes. If you don’t have a grill, place them into the oven and bake for about 35 mins or until cooked.
- Serve with your favorite toasted bread, pita or hamburger roll.
