Best of both worlds

I don’t deep fry food at home because I don’t like to deal with the mess, the oily smoke and the possibility of being burned by the hot oil. And of course I am not into deep fried foods because of the amount of fat present. So when we want to eat something  deep fried, we will just eat out or buy from outside. We had fried chicken & french fries during the weekend!

And I also made a homemade salad. It’s made of boiled cauliflower, boiled carrots, onions and gherkins. The vinaigrette consisted of apple cider vinegar, rice wine vinegar, salt, pepper, EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil), tiny bit of sugar and salad herbs.

Happy Wednesday!

fried food from a nearby coffee shop? which one do u frequent, the broadway? :D

i think baking is a good alternative! so far i’ve bought frozen nuggets, japanese crispy chicken etc and baked them instead of frying, they’re equally good, crispy & all.

:) KFC? I heard Michael Jackson ate a bucket of KFC with Magic Johnson in the 80s.

No it wasn’t KFC (which we ate not long ago too) but it was those from the fish & chips stalls.

Well it’s okay to eat KFC or whatever fast food. Moderation is key right :)

Hey I didn’t know you were refering to Magic Johnson’s speech at MJ’s memorial day! lol. I only saw it on TV just now and remembered your comment haha.

Yup, we bought from “Broadway”. It’s the nearest to our place. I like their “Curry Fish Head”.

Yeah I bake them too. And french fries as well :) They are crispy indeed! hehe

I love food but, like you, I don’t like the oily smell after cooking. It’s can be very bad during Winter here. That said, when my girls were away, I did not cook for 2 weeks. Then when I did cook, I enjoyed the smell of food in my house. Weird, isn’t it? I guess the smell of food is a sign of a living house.

You mean, the oily smell is worst in winter? or … ?

I also don’t do much cooking when I’m alone …

  10. Patrick Ng Says:

What I mean is that in Canada, it’s very cold in Winter and we usually don’t open the windows for cooking because we will be wasting heating energy. As a result, the cooking smell lingers quite a bit longer than if we had the windows opened.
