Dietary supplements

Do you take supplements? If you do, what do you take?

I used to take, like a year ago but for some reasons I stopped.  I’m starting to take these multi-vitamins (left), minerals (center) and plant concentrates – asparagus, cranberry juice, kale, rosemary extract etc. (right) again.   Whether I’m getting enough nutrients from my current diet or not, I still prefer to take supplements. It’s a personal choice I think. I just take half of the recommended dosage. Too much is also not good.

Tonight, dinner was supposed to be my regular lasagna-style eggplant with prawns. Well, the sliced eggplants shrank so much after baking them just a little, that they were too small to be used as layers. Instead I added them directly to the prawn tomato sauce and they tasted the same (minus the breadcrumbs + cheese) as the lasagna-style eggplant. The other mushroom dish was similar to yesterday’s one i.e stir-fry mushrooms with some soy sauce and beansprouts. I love this combination. You can also use Terriyaki sauce instead of soy sauce.

Now, on a completely different note … The carpet arrived during the weekend.

I’m still deciding whether to place it underneath our coffee table in the living room or somewhere else, maybe in the bedroom. I like the whole house to be carpeted. Unfortunately with the Singapore weather, it’s impossible.

I only take Centrum’s “A to Zinc” pills everyday. It’s 1 per day. I initially started taking it in my adolescent years cause it contained a great deal of Vitamin A which helped fight against acne and now I take it out of habit. :D

Those concentrates contain asparagus, cranberry juice, kale, rosemary extract etc. etc. It’s like getting your dosage in just a pill if you are missing out on those stuffs …

It has become my habit to have a homemade sandwich for lunch :) I don’t like laksa but the Katong laksa as well as the penang laksa aren’t too bad because I can eat them :P

Were you having acne problems last time? Yeah sometimes taking supplements become a habit.

  5. morinn Says:

Yup that was the last time I had acne, the centrum pills really cleared my skin, that was about 3 years ago. I was using a cream called Keracnyl before that and it was effective but only as long as I used it and I found taking a pill more convenient than applying a cream.

I take 3 types of pills. One for my hair, one for my skin and one multi-vitamins. The multi-vitamins are huge. :( :( argh.
Do you keep your pills in the fridge? I just noticed that it is written ‘store below 28 degrees once opened’ on my box of multi-vitamins. In Singapore it is often above 28 degrees right? I should have kept the pills in the fridge. :(

    @ Aline

Are your multi-vitamins bigger than mine on the picture?

Those pills on the pic are stored in the fridge. I have some others that I store at room temperature … Maybe I should keep them in the fridge! Do you still have many left for your multi-vitamins?

Speaking of Calcium, do you know that if your body doesn’t get enough Vitamin D (free source of Vitamin D is from the sun hehe), all the calcium that you ingest wouldn’t get absorbed …
