“Jelly Hearts”

My friend discovered those cute little jelly hearts from a local blog and she wanted to try them. They are sold at $16 per box of 20 pieces. They can only be ordered. I ate two yesterday and they are yummy! The bottom layer is digestive biscuit, the middle layer is cheese cake and the top layer is jelly.

Here’s the recipe

Ingredients

Base

  • 200g digestive biscuits
  • 80g butter

Fillings

  • 8oz cream cheese
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp gelatine
  • ½ cup hot water
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence
  • One punnet of strawberry (hulled and cut into halves)

Topping

  • 1 packet of Jello
  • 300g water
  • 2 tsp gelatine

Method

Processed biscuits till fine crumb in a food processor. Melt butter and mix well. Pressed the crumbs mixture into a pan and chilled till harden.

Boil the water for the topping. Turn off heat and add jello and 2 tsp gelatine. Stir till everything dissolved. Set aside to cool.

Melt sugar with hot water and then soak gelatine till soften.

Cream the cheese till creamy. Add gelatine solution to it. Cream well.

Pour cheese mixture into prepared pan and add strawberry. Arrange neatly. Set in the fridge.

Pour the cooled jello onto cheese and let in the fridge till firm.

Cut into small square pieces and serve cold.

@Angele: Yeh maybe you can try to make these one day :) There’s an online recipe. I’ll look for it and let you know hhehe. Oh but you’ll need to replace the cheese cake with something else as Lash won’t eat lol:D

  5. Carine Olivia Says:

@Lash: Have you tried the lighter / fake version of cheese cakes? They aren’t bad. Don’t really take cheesy hhee. I prefer the light ones. The cheese cake from the jellyhearts are light ones — can’t really tell that it’s cheese cake.

  6. Angele Says:

Ok just give me the recipe when you find it.I’ll try to make those heart jello :D Maybe the cheesecake can be replaced by custard?? o.O

  9. Carine Olivia Says:

@Angele: Great! Yah let me know how it turned out :) Which recipe did you follow?

@ Christy: The recipe that I mentioned is a modified recipe found on the net. I don’t have the original one …

I left a comment some time ago abt the first time I tried out the jelly heart’s recipe but I think the comment didn’t go through.Hahaha well here’s another comment from me!

    I followed this recipe:
    http://preciousmoments66.blogspot.com/2006/11/christmas-comes-early-for-us.html

I changed it a little bit though.Instead of 200g digestive biscuits I used 400g because the pan I took was a bigger one than the initial 9 inch x 9 inch pan.
And you know wat?I used custard like I told you instead of cream cheese. And definitely the custard goes very well with the jello and biscuits!I think it’s a good alternative to cream cheese :P

I wanted to post some photos but they turned out to be blur -__- I’ll try the jelly hearts again some other day and hopefully I’ll get better pictures!

You should try the above recipe I gave you. It’s very easy to do and it’s yummy :D

Oh.. Thank you for this.. I have been trying to find the steps for having the jello on top of a dessert.. My Mom used to do a summer dessert with a white cake, lemon jello set on top, with a beautiful arrangement of fresh fruit! looked awesome and oh so good and summery!
To Lash.. who doesn’t like cheesecake..here is an idea for you

    Dear Ms Carine Olivia

    Hello!

Thank you for your blog and for the posting “Jelly Hearts”.

I did a search for “strawberry jellyhearts cheesecake recipe” on Yahoo!Singapore and clicked on the search result “La vie est belle >> Blog Archive >> “Jelly Hearts”" which led to your posting and the recipe for “Jelly Hearts” you have been so kind to share.

I wish to let you know that I bake every now and then and I have copied down the recipe and intend to try it out.

As my Auntie Elsie had extended an invitation to have lunch at her place next Saturday, November 26th 2011, as a gesture of kindness, assuming that the “Jelly Hearts” turn out perfectly, I will bring the “Jelly Hearts” to her place to share with my family and relatives.
