Interesting: Cake decorating

Posted on 02 August 2007 by Carine Olivia

Ever wondered how these beautiful cakes are decorated? The cake below was my brother’s wedding cake brought over from Mauritius to Singapore (hand-carried) haha.

I am sure there are different ways of decorating those types of wedding cakes.

This video shows how a cake is decorated. They use fondant over the cake! I always thought they poured melting sugar which later on hardens and takes the shape of the cake.

A typical Mauritian wedding cake :)

The cake was baked in Mtius and hand-carried to Sg?

    That’s a “pate de mariée”,rite?

When I was a kid I thought a “pate de mariée” cake was compulsory for weddings! *lol* Like you could not have chocolate cakes or other type of cakes on yr wedding day because the “pate de mariée” was THE wedding cake!
    Hahahaa!!!

Yes it was baked in Mauritius and on the same day was brought over to Singapore. It was just a small two-tier wedding cake just to try :) My mum carried one and my dad carried the other one and there was another smaller one just to try among ourselves. I think M’tian wedding cakes usually taste nicer after a few days all thanks to the raisins inside.
