We going to move SGRunners to a local server (Singtel Data Center)! This will allow most forum members (mainly StarHub users) to surf sgrunners website at a faster speed. My website also takes ages to load on StarHub cable (I was told that some packets are lost along the way). I don’t experience this connection problem with Singnet broadband.
Today I did a 1st test (i.e import the forum database to the new server) and so far so good. We will let the members know when we do the actual move. I used BigDump to import the 200mb .sql file to the new server. I was very frustrated at the file size limits for uploading MySQL data files but BigDump is the answer!!
BigDump is a little PHP script that allows for arbitrary-sized sql files to be imported in the MySql database with no headaches. It’s pretty simple to configure, files can be uploaded via ftp and it’ll show them in a list for easy restore. It supports both text (*.sql) and compressed (*.gz) files.
BigDump ver. 0.28b (beta) (9 KB ZIP archive)

EDIT: I’ve successfully moved SGRunners to a new webhost. It took less than 4 mins to transfer the 200+mb sql file to the new server and a couple of hours for the DNS to propagate.

Yeah, I guess your blog is hosted on the same server?
I do have a workaround (using VPN to access) but not everyone has that privilege. :p

@jdoan: Yes currently both are on same US server. Will move sgrunners to the SG server first and then most probably get another SG plan for my other sites.
“I do have a workaround (using VPN to access)” <— what do you mean?

@Uncle: Yes it makes import easier
I am still on the same US server. So yeh, shouldn’t be any different.
