75 laps (30km) at the stadium track

OMG. I can’t believe I completed 75 laps (30km) at the stadium track within 2hr52!! It’s like yet another accomplishment for me, not because of the timing (will come back to that later) but because I ran 75 f**king times round and round the same 400m track. Well I had some occasional water breaks in between hee.

Calvin wanted to run at Bedok stadium instead of East Coast Park because of his knee and ankle injuries. The track at the stadium is indeed softer than concrete, hence it has less impact on the legs. So I joined he and his two friends for the challenge. The three are preparing for the upcoming Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon.

We started off at 7am. There was a big group of oldies doing a mass Qi Gong and a number of joggers on track. Our target running pace was 6 mins per km but each of us ran at different paces which is indeed recommended – run your own run at your own pace. I wasn’t carrying any watch unlike them with one watch on each wrist hee. The first 15 laps (10km) was okay. The mental torture started after the 50th lap (20km)! By then, the sun was already high up in the sky and it was indeed hot! We were practically the only runners on track too. I wanted to stop at 25km but I’m glad that I did not! Whoohoo I’m a happy and satisfied lady right now :> But no thanks, I will not attempt another long run at the stadium that soon!

Oh yeah I couldn’t believe that my 21km was within 1hr52. I have totally lost track of my timings since the ultra marathon back in January 2006. I haven’t run for first half of the year and it took me a few months to lose the extra pounds and get back into a more decent shape. Today was my first time knowing exactly my 10km, 20km and 30km timings. I hit 10km in about 53 mins and 20km in about 1hr52. Yeah I got slower and slower.
